Welcome to the Compass Diagnostic for the 2026 Human Services Summit: Leading into the Emerging Future
This Compass is a quick survey that will help us generate and collect ideas, insights, and opinions prior to our two days together. Your input is critical as the Compass, like a mechanical compass, will give direction and focus to Summit dialogue and contribute to the overall learning environment of our time together.
Our context for problem solving at the Summit will focus on how you, as a human services leader, can not only manage the complexity and uncertainty of the present, but also lead into an emerging future, one where novel trends, technologies, and service models have already begun to appear even as our institutions work to catch up. In particular, we’ll explore how leaders go where the system is falling short and succeeding to learn how work actually happens, build the routines and partnerships that make action possible, turn what they learn into evidence others can understand and use, and carry those lessons into the organizational capabilities, policies, and cultural competencies that sustain a new path forward and enhance trust and legitimacy.
The following Think Tank section will gather your ideas and help inform our discussions on these pressing issues at the Summit.
